DJJ Realignment: Preparing for Transitional Aged Youth (Online/Remote) 12/09/2022

This 8-hour STC certified course is designed to help the facility staff better understand the youth being redirected from the adult facilities back to the youth facilities because of SB 823. The course will discuss the differences between the expected developmental milestones and the actual developmental milestones as a result of incarceration, transitional recommendations due to the vicarious trauma exposure, current terminology being used by clients in adult facilities, and strategies for smoother acclimation back into a youth facility; and re-entry into society. This course will also address the issue of appropriate boundaries and de-escalation.

Class will be held on the Zoom platform from 0800-1700 hours.
