The primary focus of this 8-hour course is to educate and prepare the student for the event that they, a partner, or a subordinate is involved in an officer-involved shooting or crisis event.  As a peace officer in the State of California, the chance that an officer will be involved in some adverse incident is greater now than ever before.  This course will comprehensively explore the events that the officer will encounter from the beginning to the end.  This will include explaining the different investigations that will transpire, rights under the Peace Officers Bill of Rights; social media; and the role of various people from partners to the investigative agencies involved in investigating the event.  Students will also explore relevant legal cases.

This interactive course will also present students with scenario-based challenges where they can apply newly acquired knowledge and skills and refine current skills and know-how and what to expect and do in the event of an officer-involved event. They will discover who they can speak to when to speak, and what can be said. Through lecture, facilitated discussion, and hands-on practicum, students will be better prepared if they, a partner or subordinate, is involved in an incident.  The instructors are well versed in all aspects of officer-involved events, from the investigation to the support role.
