Holistic Approach to Working with Female Offenders: Incarcerated and Reentry

8-hours Online/Remote or Onsite

Female Offender

By virtue of historical nature, the Criminal Justise system is set up to serve the needs of the male population.  Our criminal justice system is comprised of men and women and woman have different needs than men.  This eight (8) hour course is designed to help the probation officer, correctional officer, and jailer to better understand the physical and psychological issues that a female offender may be experiencing.

Through group discussion, videos, and group activities, students will learn what the female offenders may be undergoing and may need while incarcerated, as well as in preparation for a successful reentry into society.  Topics include family issues, mental health issues, victimization, housing issues, gender identification considerations, and opportunities for education.  A positive staff encounter will generalate positive interactions while incarcerated and once in society.
