This course is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of ghost guns and the laws surrounding the Ghost Guns. Students will learn how to define what a ghost gun is, how they are made and their implications in modern society. They will also understand the current laws that pertain to ghost guns. Including federal, state, and local laws, and how they affect the purchase, manufacture, and use of ghost guns. The laws that are currently in legislation or being proposed related to ghost guns will be analyzed, and how they could impact the future of ghost guns and related issues will be explored. Additionally, students will learn how ghost guns are transforming guns into assault weapons, and the implications this has for public safety and gun violence. They will also identify current trends in creating and building ghost guns, including the technologies and materials used, and the challenges of tracking and regulating them. Lastly, students will understand what is necessary to prepare for filing charges for ghost guns crimes, including the legal and evidentiary requirements, and the role of law enforcement agencies and the courts in addressing ghost gun crimes. Through lectures, case studies, discussions, and assessments, students will be able to apply their knowledge in a variety of contexts, include law enforcement, policymaking, and advocacy.
