This 8-hour STC certified course is designed to help the facility staff better understand the youth being redirected from the state youth facilities back to the local youth facilities because of SB 823.  The course will discuss the background of SB 823, differences between the expected developmental milestones and the actual developmental milestones, developmental affecters,  vicarious trauma, preparing for the transition with youth status and needs, housing classifications, current daily activities, youth concerns, concerns of "criminal sophistication", staff boundaries and manipulation, and staff empowerment and support.    This course will also allow for networking with other probation departments within the state and allow for collaboration and sharing of ideas and experience.
